About Us

Sarah and Dar Patel are experienced healthcare professionals helping any exerciser get the most bang for their buck from their favorite activities. After meeting at the University of Oklahoma, they continued on to grad school together at OU: Sarah earning a dual Master of Science in Nutritional Sciences and Master of Arts in Dietetics, and Dar earning a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and Doctor of Physical Therapy. Together, Sarah and Dar Patel form Patel Wellness, LLC.

They created Patel Wellness to satisfy your one need: to keep doing that activity you love. Whether it’s golf, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, CrossFit, soccer, running, lifting, or anything else, nothing should keep you from playing at the level you desire. Maybe you’ve been in the game for a while, maybe you’re coming back from a (let’s-not-talk-about-how-long) break. Either way, you are welcome here! Keep scrolling to see if you would benefit most from working with Sarah or Dar (or both!).

About Sarah

Get to know me…

An Oklahoma girl at heart, I grew up in the Tulsa area and have lived in various places in the OKC metro since coming to Norman for school at OU. Growing up, I learned the importance of physical activity from my parents and participated in a few different sports. To be frank, I wasn’t terribly skilled at any of them, so I learned how to be coachable, work hard, and practice the fundamentals. I played volleyball, ran track (and still have scars on my hands from an early hurdle experience), and did some distance running just for fun. In college I picked up weightlifting, taught to me by Dar, and racquetball. But during this time I was very focused on school - over the course of 6.5 years, I earned a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science, M.S. in Nutritional Sciences, and a M.A. in Dietetics so I could participate in internships and pass a national exam to become a Registered Dietitian.

Next thing I know, I’m working full time, forcing myself to do boring workouts at the gym, and getting tired of the same cycle over and over. I missed sports, and felt like I had nothing to train for. Enter - tennis! Once I started playing tennis and joined a league, I haven’t looked back. Playing a sport again has not only made physical activity FUN again, but it also motivates me to do other activities like running and weightlifting. Exercising for longer periods of time also presented a new challenge of making sure I was fueling my body for optimal performance and recovery. Practicing these strategies on myself, along with the technical foundation I teach to my students in OU’s Sport and Exercise Nutrition class, has given me a huge step up on helping other active adults.

No matter your sport or activity of choice, I want to help YOU perform your best while building habits to support your health for the decades to come. Want to work with Sarah? Click the button to check out her services!

About Dar

A specialist in reducing your pain to keep you moving - with one catch.

My services are NOT like the mainstream physical therapy you may have encountered in the past. I believe in the power of touch and using my hands-on skills to facilitate your body’s healing process to quickly get you back to doing what you love. I want to save you the time and money of having to deal with the current healthcare system that pushes you to go to a clinic 2-3 times a week to do some repeatable exercises you could be doing at home. As a fellow athlete and exercise enthusiast, I know how it feels to “miss days” because of pain. If you are like me and many others, exercise and sports is your mental haven. If you want to keep moving freely and limit any blocks in your sport/exercise routine, try me, your future primary physio.

Get to know me…

My family and I immigrated to the US in 2004 from Tanzania. For my parents, this was mainly a move to provide my sister and I education in a country full of opportunity. Going through junior high and high school in Oklahoma, I really enjoyed lifting weights, sports, and academics. I was leaning towards seeking a profession in healthcare at this point in life, but not sure exactly what. Early in undergrad, I spoke with an Oklahoma Football physical therapist and the profession really piqued my interest. I was fascinated by the idea of healthcare that doesn’t rely on medications. I followed a few more physical therapists during these years, and finally found a career path I wanted to pursue.

A few years later I completed my Masters in Exercise Physiology and my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of Oklahoma. Now, as a specialist in exercise and pain reduction, I provide a service unlike one you would receive at any clinic. I believe in the power of exercise and natural hands-on treatment to address the root source of your pain. By also providing specific exercises for you to integrate into your regular routine, you can continue to see results long past our time working together.

I am beyond passionate about what I do and how I can help you reduce your pain and keep you moving. If my passion for movement resonates with you and you want a healthcare provider you can trust for life, fill out this short questionnaire and I’ll be in touch with you shortly.
